Air conditioners do not generate heat but extract it from one body of air and transfer it to another. In summer the system works in reverse, extracting heat from indoors and transferring it outside leaving you comfortable and cool.

Try cleaning the return air filter, if it is blocked the system will become noisy. To do this, remove the filter from the return air, take it outside and wash it down with a hose, let it dry and reinstall. DO NOT VACUUM.
